FAQ

QUESTIONS

Where is Puri WIrata?

Puri Wirata is located in Bunutan, Amed in East Bali, about 100km from the airport, Denpasar (or about a 2,5h drive).

How can I get to Puri Wirata?

There are different ways to get to Puri Wirata Amed, depending on your own preferences. The easiest solution is if we send you a driver for a pick up. Prices for a private pick up depend on where you stay on the Island. A pick up from the airport to Puri Wirata Amed, in a regular 4 seater car during daytime, would be Rp. 650.000 (Rp. 750.000 for plane arrive after 8pm). Contact us for any transport request.

A second option to get to Amed, is to take a Perama Tours Bus. They leave from the tourist areas in Bali (Kuta, Ubud, Lovina) and cost about Rp. 150.000/pp. However, they stop in Amed and from Amed, it is another 10 minutes to reach Puri Wirata. More info can be found on the Perama Tours Website or call them on +62 361 751875

A third option is to rent your own scooter or car and find your way around the Island. An international driving license is needed. And never forget the most important rule in Indonesian traffic: If it is bigger than you, get out of the way.

Is Puri Wirata a 5 star resort?

No, Puri Wirata is a small family run resort. We are however a PADI 5 Star resort, which refers to the services provided by our divecenter (Bali Reef Divers).

However, we try to offer the best possible service and try to maintain a very good price/quality comparison.

I want a room with sea view, which room can you recommend me?

All of our 31 rooms have sea view. Yes. That is right. You can see the ocean from each and every one of our rooms. The earlier you book, the more chance of having an ocean front room. We have no priority system in place for rooms except first come, first serve.

Which methods of payment do you accept?

As of July 2015, a new government regulation stipulates that all payments should be made in Indonesian Rupiah.

At Puri Wirata, you can pay in cash or you can pay by using VISA or MASTER cards. However, we charge a 3% for credit card payments.

Are you close to the center of Amed?

Amed doesn’t really have a center. One could consider Jemeluk Bay as the central point of Amed, as this is where the boats to the Gili Islands leave/arrive. Puri Wirata is 2km from Jemeluk. However, in our opinion, the better restaurants of Amed are within walking distance from Puri Wirata. Snorkeling spots are spread out over the length of the coast, so the best is to get a scooter and get around.

How can we get to the Gili Islands from Amed?

Quite easy! There are daily fastboats going from Amed to the Gili Islands and vice versa. Trips usually leave in the morning around 9 a.m. from Amed. During busy times of the year, there are several trips a day. The companies pick up from the resort. If you want us to book your trip, contact us by mail and we will make sure your spot is reserved. The price is Rp. 300.000/pp for one way.

I heard snorkeling around Amed is good. How can I snorkel? (by getting wet)

Snorkeling spots are spread out over the length of the coast, so the best is to rent a scooter to get around. Snorkeling around Amed is very good indeed, with sites offering a wide variety of fish and coral life. Generally it is possible all year round, however, some weather conditions may cause hindrance.

Can I go diving if I never dove before?

Yes you can!

There are a few options if you never tried diving before. If you are limited on time or you just want to try it out, there’s a Discover Scuba program, which takes you in the pool first followed by 1 or 2 ocean dives.

If you have more time and you would like to get serious, why not try to pass your PADI Open Water course. For this course, no previous experience is needed.

For both the Open Water and the Discover Scuba, being comfortable in the water is definitely recommended, as is being able to swim.

Do I need to book up front for diving?

In theory, it is not needed to book ahead.

However, we do recommend to book ahead, as it tends to get quite busy sometimes. Especially if you have specific requests (courses in certain languages, certain packages), booking ahead is recommended. And booked ahead will always be confirmed, no matter how busy it gets!

Do I need to book up front for your Spa?

Our Spa is small and can only treat 3 guests simultaneously. If you want to have a treatment between 4 and 8pm, booking ahead is definitely recommended, especially during the busy times of the year!
